When the Comic Strip Live! opened in 1976, no one knew who or what our young crop of talented comics would develop into. Sure, we had Billy Crystal and Rodney Dangerfield hanging around and in time we would groom and provide the space for the likes of Eddie Murphy, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Louis C.K., Adam Sandler and countless more to grow. But all of those early days comics helped the club become what it is today.
Perhaps no comic personifies that era better than the great Joe Bolster. Starting at the Strip in one of our earliest eras, Bolster has since gone on to amazing success, appearing on “The Tonight Show,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” starred in his own HBO “One Night Stand” special, was the winner of Showtime’s “New York Laff Off” competition and served as a writer for “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “Talk Soup,” The Oscars and more.
A seasoned joke-craftsman who in 2011 released his most recent comedy CD “You Didn’t Ask, But Here’s What I’m Thinking…” Bolster performs nightly to sold-out thousand seat theater venues as the requested opening act for Brian Regan.
Joe will be performing on our 8:30 who tonight. Tickets are still available. You don’t want to miss your opportunity to see one of the best in the business, Joe Bolster, live. Order your tickets online now!

On Tuesday, February 7th, the world-renowned Lottery returns. At the Lottery, hopeful comedians will line-up around the block for the chance to draw a number which begins the process to getting an audition which, if passed, lets them have the chance to begin performing at the club. The Comic Strip is the only comedy club in the city (and perhaps the country) to offer this rare, one-of-a-kind opportunity. EVERYONE WHO COMES GETS AN AUDITION DATE!!!
The process is simple. Get in line, draw a number at random, once you have your number a club staff member will let you know what date (usually within the next 6 months) that number ties you too. It is then up to you to return on that night and make the crowd laugh. You might draw an early number and audition the next week on February 14th, or you may not go until December. Either way, you better be ready to showcase your best stuff!
