In The Tank with Jon Fisch and Christian Finnegan!

It’s a two-parter with guest Christian Finnegan.  I waited to post them together because the new season of LOST has reminded how much I hate cliffhangers.

Christian is a staple on Comedy Central, VH1, and at the World Famous Comic Strip Live.  You should check out his recent DVD, Au Contraire, and our schedule to find out the next time he’ll be on stage at the Comic Strip.

In the Tank @ Comic Strip Live!

Take a look at these photos from the set-up and taping of Episode 125 of In the  Tank with Jon Fisch with Comic Strip regular and crowd pleaser Vic Henley!  Check back next week for the link to this upcoming episode that touches on topics like: why you never hang up on Vic Henley, when smoking can sometimes be good, and the lost art of hosting.

Earlier this week, we talked about In the Tank with Jon Fisch, the comedy podcast that takes listeners back stage and into the world of stand-up comedy.  Through interviews and personal anecdotes about performing, Jon Fisch, Dan Allen, and Dan Shaki discuss the ins-and-outs of professional comedy while talking with a different comic each episode.

I’m happy to report that today, the In the Tank crew is recording its next installment, with guest comic Vic Henley right here at the World Famous Comic Strip Live!

You can find In the Tank at its website and on Facebook.  And, of course, you can click the image below to subscribe to the In the Tank with Jon Fisch podcast so this plus every very entertaining and informative episode will be downloaded straight to your iPod.

It looks like everyone is having a great time!

It’s sure to be a great episode!

Happy Friday!

In the Tank with Jon Fisch

Jon Fisch is a New York Comedy scene staple.  And it’s not just because he’s so funny, which he is.  He is also a huge fan of comedy.  His twelve years of experience plus his passion for the craft of stand-up have combined to form In the Tank with Jon Fisch.

Jon, Dan Allen, and Dan Shaki joined forces in January to produce a podcast about the ins-and-outs of comedy, about the skill that goes into writing and performing, and about current developments in the New York and national scenes.  24 episodes later, what has evolved is an in-depth look at comedy from a fun and informative angle that has been overlooked in the past.

I got to talk with Jon as he prepared this week’s episode (Episode 124 ), and he lamented the fact that there’s, “… so many things people still don’t understand about stand-up.”  With each new installment of In the Tank, however, this group has been able to shed some light on the behind-the-scenes side of the comedy world by swapping stories and interviewing a different comic each episode for his or her ideas on anything from comedy movies to stage-time to stage-wear.  Jon said that it’s geared towards those of you in a club audience who come up (or want to come up) after a show with questions about being a comic.  But even if you don’t have the desire to ever get on stage yourself, it’s also a really great resource for learning about some of your favorite comedians.  Some past guests include Todd Barry, Ted Alexandro, and Laurie Kilmartin, to name a few.  For a complete list of past Tank guests, check out the episode log HERE.

For those of you who have listened to the show before, you already appreciate the mix of perspectives that Jon, Dan, and Shaki bring to each interview.  Jon is the host of the show; and like a host on any given night at the Comic Strip Live, he focuses on the guests and the over-all tone and pace of the episode.  Dan is “Producer Dan” and, as well as taking on responsibilities off-air, is able to add his own anecdotes from his twelve-year career into the conversation.  Shaki, as a newer comic, infuses his enthusiasm and humor into questions and comments throughout each new episode.  The result is a show over-flowing with true-life stories, fun interviews, a lot of talking about getting laughs, and, of course, a lot of laughs themselves.
